What is Individual Counselling?

Individual Counselling is a form of talk-therapy that involves a collaboration between a Counsellor and a Client who engage in exploration of thoughts, feelings, actions and values.

At Raaiter Wellness, we offer online individual counselling providing a confidential and supportive space where together we find practical ways to help you feel better and move forward.

Who is Individual Counselling for?

It is for all adults aged 18 and above who are experiencing low to moderate levels of mental health difficulties. Sessions are available online, making it accessible whether you are based in India or internationally.

What therapeutic approaches does the Counsellor use?

Preethi takes a trauma-informed and person-centred approach by incorporating techniques from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

CBT helps you to notice how your thoughts, feelings and actions are all inter-related, and how changing one, changes the others. ACT helps with coping with difficult emotions instead of fighting them and living according to what truly matters to you.

What happens in the sessions?

Many people come to their first session feeling unsure of what to expect and that’s completely normal. You don’t need to have the right words, a clear problem, or any idea of where to start. Preethi will guide the conversation gently from the beginning.

Sessions take place online via a secure video platform, from wherever you feel most comfortable.

In the early sessions, Preethi will take the time to understand you – what’s been weighing on you, what your life looks like, and what you’d like to feel differently. 

As sessions progress, you and Preethi will work together to make sense of what you are experiencing. This might look like:

  • Exploring the thoughts and beliefs that are keeping you stuck
  • Noticing patterns in how you feel, think, and respond to situations
  • Learning practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, or other challenges
  • Working through a specific challenge – a relationship difficulty, a life transition, a loss
  • Building a clearer sense of who you are and what matters to you

Sessions move at your pace. Preethi is direct and collaborative. She will reflect things back to you honestly, and gently challenge you when it serves your growth. Clients often describe feeling heard and understood in a way they haven’t before, and leaving sessions with a clearer head and a sense of forward movement.

By the end of your time together, the goal is not just to feel better but to understand yourself well enough to keep moving forward on your own.
